Kindredhouse would not exist without the efforts and inspiration of Doeun Len. While traveling in Cambodia we had the opportunity to meet Doeun Len. ‘Len’ is a former Buddhist Monk – traditionally the Buddhist wat, with monks as teachers, provides a formal education opportunity for boys in Cambodia. He now works as a guide for the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Archeological Park. He and his family live in a village outside of Siem Reap. As we came to know Len, we were inspired by his commitment to helping his own community. He introduced us to his family and friends and we came to know and love them. Wonderfully, we were given the opportunity to serve within this community.
Chansor is a village or ‘commune’ within Soutr Nikum District, Siem Reap Province. The region consists of 19 villages and the Chansor Clinic serves approximately 14,000 people. There is one physician who travels to the area on a part-time basis. Kindredhouse has provided support and medications to Chansor Clinic since inception with the goal of increasing effective delivery of basic healthcare needs to community members.
